Description
Larsonite is a distinct type of petrified bog wood that is only found near McDermitt, Nevada - Oregon border.
Has attractive shades of teal blue and bright lime green, and well preserved wood grain patterns.
This certain wood that was covered by volcanic ash and debris between 11-15 million years ago. The volcanic event covered this area in debris that deprived the plants of oxygen, halting the decay process. Minerals from the ash then acted as the replacement material for the petrification, giving the wood these vibrant colors.
