Not a mineral or a space rock, moldavite is terrestrial rock melted by the extreme heat and pressure of a cosmic impact, ejected into the atmosphere, and cooled into glassy fragments across Central Europe—primarily in the Czech Republic (Bohemia and Moravia) near the Vltava (Moldau) River.
